How I lost a stone in a week

This is a diet I was handed and told that it was designed to help people crash lose a stone for operations. I tried it and lost 14 lbs, so I’ll pass it along since I can’t find it anywhere else on the net.

Fresh fruit - any amount 2 hard boiled eggs

5 1 slice dry toast Fresh fruit - any amount Fresh fish

Salad
6 1 glass grapefruit juice Fresh fruit - any amount Grilled chicken

Carrots & grapefruit
7 Scrambled eggs

Grilled or tinned tomatoes
2 poached eggs

Spinach
Grilled steak

Salad

Their Rules

  1. No alcoholic drinks.
  2. Permitted drinks: Black coffee, tea, lemon/grapefruit juice without sugar.
  3. No milk, butter or fats.
  4. NO EATING BETWEEN MEALS
  5. Abstain from all not included in diet. Eat what is shown or go without.
  6. ONLY DIET FOR ONE WEEK IN THREE - TWO WEEKS OFF
  7. No substitutes allowed. The basis of the diet is chemical, not the quantities.
  8. Lunch and dinner may be swapped but only on the same day.
  9. GUARANTEED TO LOSE ONE STONE IN ONE WEEK.

My Tips

  1. The grapefruit sourness is a lot more bearable with pink grapefruit. Also, if you have a sweet tooth normally, bear in mind that grapefruit sweetens a lot in the last stages of ripening.
  2. I am used to eating like a pig, and thus had a lot of “empty stomach - must fill” type feelings. Drinking lots of water filled me up temporarily.
  3. If you are desperate for flavour on some of the blander dishes, add a little lemon juice. On the list of allowed drinks and can pep up things nicely.
  4. If you try the diet and it works for you, leave me a comment. I’m curious to see if it works for other people.
NB: This is not my diet, I merely transcribe; do not sue me if you die - James.

There were also an incredibly long list of old comments from the previous location of this page - they are now at http://diet.jaduncan.com/2006/04/how-i-lost-stone-in-week.html

I am 10st and have put on 1/2 stone since christmas. I'm bridesmaid in Sept so really want to lose the weight before the dress fittings. I'll let you know how I get on - please wish me luck to complete it successfully!!!

  11. Day one has passed and I have already lost 2 pounds! absolutely delighted with the result and this has given me the motivation to carry on! I'm finding it really difficult not to snack in between meals but i'm having as much water as possible to try and curb this hunger.

I'll let you know how day 2 goes

    ReplyDelete
  13. pound and a half off last night. That's 4 and a half pounds in total. On track to lose about 8 or nine pounds. Think i'm gona step it up a gear and do lots of exercise and see if that makes any difference. It's actually not been as bad as I first thought it would. getting past day three was a big mile stone. Looking forward to my eggs tonight. I'll be back on to relay my progress.

  25. hey folks,

I'm pondering this diet as a crash course simply as my training has hit a lull! I'm now ~16; am a stocky chap an usual weight is 14. I'm wondering on a few things; is it just water thats lost (i dont see many diuretic foods on the list) is the loss visible? or just on the scales? an what are the portions for "salad", steak etc

    thanks everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ok,im on day five and its surprsingly easier than when i did it last time, dont know why.I dont even feel that hungry!

  30. I'm going to start this diet tomorrow. I put on about 2 stones in less than three months and I've tried everything to lose it in the last 6 months but nothing's worked....I'd lose a couple of pounds and end up putting the weight back on in a matter of just few days which was quite depressing aaah. I'm going on holiday on the 17th and really want to lose some weight before then. I've never really had a problem with weight before so I don't know how hard it'll be sticking to this diet but it doesn't seem so hard so hopefully I'll be fine. I think it's best I don't weigh myself for the next 7 days though...

    ReplyDelete
  31. This was the best diet ever. I finished day 7 yesterday and I lost 10lb. I was originally 9 and a half stone and felt really bloated. I have lost weight on my stomach and legs. Going on my holiday in 3 days and can't wait to put on my bikini. Just to let you's all know I did have a packet of crisps on day 2 and also swapped steak to chicken and it still worked. Drank plenty of grapefruit juice in between meals. Also walked 30 minutes on three of the days. good luck to everyone and keep at it.

    ReplyDelete
  32. just started this diet today, stocked up on tinned tomatoes, grapefruit and water. looking forward to it because it seems to be getting a very positive respone, i'll keep posted as it goes on

  37. Approved!

Im a big fat fatty who eats too much. I followed this except had scrambled egg instead of boiled. I had Salmon steak for the fish course (which I hate) I lost 10.5lbs in seven days, found it quite easy to do and feel at least ten times better in myself for doing this.

I will do it again in two weeks time and just eat more sensibly until then.

  38. hi!

i need to lose 2 stone or as near as in 3 weeks, have my brothers wedding coming up. i am starting this on saturday and am wondering if anyone has done this longer than a week n have you lost more weight?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hi i am starting this diet on saturday and i really need to lose a stone by next sat! will exercise help if so how much? x

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hi everyone. It has been really encouraging to read all of your bloggs for advice.
I am on day five of the diet and so far so good. I haven't struggled too much but then I have had the luxury of time off. I can't imagine trying to complete this while at work - especially with the low energy levels.
I started with only seven days to go till my holiday. Previously, I had lost a stone, doing dance classes and cutting out the rubbish. This was great but still left me at 13.13 stones and despite being 5ft 8, this was pushing it! I weighed myself on Tuesday, after only two days and was 13.11 so hopefully by Monday, I'll see some serious results. My clothes and jeans definately feel bettr if nothing else.
I have been exercising on most days for at least two hours although I admit I have slacked off the past two days. I also enjoyed quite a few cheeky vodka and slimeline tonics on Tuesday night to be followed up with several more tonight, fingers crossed I don't ruin it all but have drunk previously on other low-carb diets and have still seen results. Good luck dieters, I'll let you know how I get on.

  42. done 1 day lost 3 pounds!

    ReplyDelete
  43. started this today - can anyone tell me if you can have chewing gum?

    ReplyDelete
  44. For the record, I'd imagine chewing gum would be fine, as it has negligible calories (5 cals a blob for sugar free, apparently). 1-2 pieces a day seems fine. This was brought to you via the magic of the Quasi-Scientificish Wild Guess.

    ReplyDelete
  45. right i know i said i'd start it but i haven't n will do on thurs, hectic wedding planning!!! wish me luck!! x x x

    ReplyDelete
  46. ok - on day 2 and the time is 4.15p.m. and to be honest I could eat a Shire Horse ! I really wanna do this but have looked at what is in store for me for the next few days - Fruit, Fruit, Fruit and Fruit oh and a couple of eggs !! Whooppee lucky me - would prefer to have a curry and a rolling rock !! BUT I WON'T - does the starving feeling pass - please say YES !!

    ReplyDelete
  47. @16:14. Drink water. It makes it a bit easier.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Hi this looks amazing i know its a quick fix but thats exactly what i need.I'm currently 11st 6lbs which is the most i have ever weighed, im normally around 10st 4lbs. I have 9 days to lose my target of at least half a stone and if i should lose more even better. wish me look

    ReplyDelete
  49. hey started today- decided to go with this diet as it appears to have worked v well for others and the results seem to be positive. I must say I'm starving on it!! but hopefully it gets better its prob cos I'm on a "diet" I cant stop thinking about food i'm 10 stone would be happy to just get rid of bloating and feel better in myself.. let ye know how I go.. determined to stick to it!

  50. Hey starting this diet today, done it a month ago and lost nearly a stone got so many compliments and got back into a size 10 jeans fitting me normal couldn't even get my really nice jeans past my knees a few months ago and after doing this for one week they were loose on me ! :) I'm gonna start it again today and try so hard to stick to it, if you just tell yourself its just for one day and if you get through that just tell yourself again its just for one more day. It's so worth it in the end and its only for one week. I'm starting off this time at 10 stone 5 and a half pounds, gained a few pounds by eating so much shit, but i am going to update this every day to try and motivate myself :) lets hope it works ha x

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hey Michelle, I just wanted to say good luck, and I'm personally hoping your jeans end up unwearably slack. :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Hey I started this Friday and on day 3 today so far so good drinking loads of water to keep the hunger pangs at bay! I havent checked the scales yet gonna wait til near the end but i have to say i feel slimmer and my abdomen is definately flatter.. due to lack of food. I think tomorrow is gonna be hard tho as having steak , chicken and lamb over the weekend kept me going.. i'm determined to keep going. Well done Michelle and I'll log on every day too and we can see how we go!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. ps that was me as anonymous on the 6th.. just figured i should put my name to comments easier to track Karen x

I will have just one egg with my tea.. i do realise that i have tampered a bit but i hope it wont affect me overall results any thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  56. slipped by the wayside yesterday and had 2 glasses of white wine!! not good!! so mad at myself cos was doing well. i stuck to diet otherwise but obviously that wont do!! for what its worth i'm repeating day 5 today fish 4 tea minus the white wine!! and will continue on to do Day 6 & 7. i'm not going to be too hard on myself. i will try again week after next. any way still feel good even if i'd lost 5-7 pounds be happy!! its a difficult enough diet.. really miss carbohydrates... fish ready gotta go yum!!

  59. hi fellow dieters lol. i have been on weight watchers for nearly a month now and was doing so well up untill last week when i slipped and ate a whole cheesecake :/ after the cheesecake incident i kind of gave up and have pigged out all week now. so i have started this diet today and will do it for a week jut to see. so far so good. no hunger pangs lol. i have tried the cabbage soup diet in the past and results were quite good but i cant stomache cabbage any more! plus this diet looks alot more bareable.
So, good luck everyone and good luck to me too! i will keep you all posted on how i get on xx

    ReplyDelete
  60. Hello, i'm at the end of the first day and absolutely starving. Not surprised tho as my body is used to constant snacking...i'm sure it will get easier. Starting weight 10.12st lets hope this reduces dramactically :)

    ReplyDelete
  61. well, me again lol. i started yesterday but pigged out last night (lack of willpower hmmm) but have completed today an done half an hour of cardio to top it off and make up for last night :/
i feel ok, could eat now but i am sticking it out and getting to my goal!keep u posted xx

  67. can i use grapefruit tea? please get back to me asap

    ReplyDelete
  68. Started this morning - tomatoes and toast done - had lots of fruit for lunch and looking forward to my eggs... is graprefruit tea as good as grapefruit in this diet? kind of need to know before tonight... thanks guys

    ReplyDelete
  69. hi started today all meals done hate graprefruit but better as a drink with ice to water it down. see how i do tonight think will have a early night, but know big bro is on. lol

    ReplyDelete
  70. End of day two and still being good....roll on sunday

    ReplyDelete
  71. I very much doubt the tea has enough of the chemicals. Think about the amount of mushroom consumed in mushroom tea: consuming a grapefruit's worth of chemicals in tea is virtually impossible.

    ReplyDelete
  72. ok thanks for that have since bought grapefruit juice - unsweetened not from concentrate. and whole pink grapefruits

    ReplyDelete
  73. Made it to day four and the end is in sight now! Has been a challenge and just hope I get the results on Sunday :)

    ReplyDelete
  74. Hi All,

Just started this diet yesterday. I have just had my dinner and hoping that the scales have atleast shifted. I do 30-60mins on the mini-stepper daily or take long walks. I weigh 12st8lbs right this moment tbut hpoing to see at least 2llb deficit over night. I want to go down 9 to 10stones. I hope this works for me...It would be amazing to loose a stone!! Good luck will let you know how it all goes down!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Day 3 now..Just weighed in...I,ve gone from 12st8lb to 12st6lb, this is a good thing but I thought it would be abit more as iI have stuck to the diet religiously.

EVEryone seems to spot a difference so I can't wait to see the end of this.

  76. I think im going to try out this diet, I really want to lose a stone by end of september, as im goin on holiday with two of my friends, i currently weigh 10 stone 6, i want to weight 9 stone 6. My friend is 9.6 and she is the same gheight as me and looks great, i also go gym every so often it was everyday at first but i have to admit i have not been for about 2 weeks, tut tut, i really want to tone up some areas on my body! i.e bum tum and top of legs, I have not got much motivation and allways tempted to snack on a bit of choccy or biscuit, its what i crave after every meal i have, somthing sweet! Not good. Im starting to use my adios pills again, because there to be takin as part of a calorie controlled diet, im goin to stop my self from eating sweets and chocolate and naughty things! i eat a lot of fruit as it is so that should not be too much trouble. I allways think its better if you have got a diet buddy aswell, maybe one of your friends that want to lose weight, you could keep track of each others weight, that way it gives you a bit of competition and motavation!
I find that when im dieting the only thing i think about is food!! its horribel, then i start getting more hungry even if i have just eaten somthing. so wish me luck! i cant really start it today because i have allready had other foods, not really bad things, weight watchers meal, soup and toast and errrrm a biscuit ok maybe two. and loads of green tea.
    Goodluck everyone. Thanks. K

  77. i am on day 3 and there is no significant shift in my weight..people seem to have lost 4lbs by this day but it doesn't seem to be shifting for me..WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?????

    ReplyDelete
  78. hi i am about to use your dietbut 1 question can u drink grapefruit juice everyday or just when it says on the plan??

    ReplyDelete
  79. Every day, it's an allowed drink. For people's reference, I am on the last day of this at the moment and lost 6.3kg/13.88lbs. I did do a bit of running etc. this time though.

    ReplyDelete
  80. hi just starting to day, is there any restrictions in the salad or fruit that your allowed to eat?

    ReplyDelete
  81. Hello, it was our 1st day yesterday - the hardest time was the fruit for lunch bit as it didn't seem to fill! On a normal 'work' day that would be fine but hard on a Bank Holiday, walking round a fairground with all those lovely smells! Really hope this works for me as jeans are sooo tight. Hubby has no shirts left that aren't 'snug' so we're doing it together - he loses really easily so I'd best get on that treadmill sharpish to be in with a shout at beating him! Will try and keep y'all updated. Good luck.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Hi all - well today was day 4 and on waking up this morning I couldn't help jumping on to the scales..... Remember was about to start day 4 ... I'v lost 8lbs!!!! So amazing and so encouraging as i never manage to lose weight. I've been so busy back at work that I've not had time to be hungry. I was really sceptical about this but hey!! it's fab!!! I can't wait to see final result. Crack on. x

    ReplyDelete
  83. I just wanted to ask am I allowed to drink Apple cider vinegar with water?

    ReplyDelete
  84. Hello, started the diet today and the whole day zent really well but the evening is so hard, any tips on how to deal with that please?!
I ate some popcorn to fill up this void of not being able to eat food - just corn seeds popped in the microwave (no butter, sugar or salt)

Can I drink the grapefruit juice as much as i want and can I eat fruit throughout the day or just on the selected time indicated in the plan?
Thanks for the feedback and good luck to my fellow dieters.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I'm starting this today but with a slight twist... Over the last month I've been fasting intermittently, i.e. eating one meal a day. I managed to loose a stone, but I felt like it took too long.

So my plan is to carry on with the intermittent fasting, but my meals will be a days worth of food from the list above.

After doing intermittent fasting for a month, hunger doesn't affect me any more, I'm just worried about the tiny amount of food I'll be having....

  89. Hi All,

this is day 5 and people are noticing my changes as of day 3!!!

I can see the changes too - around my waist and stomach - the shapes are coming back and clothes are falling nicely again without making me look pregnant!!!

I am so happy with this diet - I am going to make small amendements to it so that I can continue to use it for the next few weeks -but add some more vegetables to it for vitamine intake issues - other than that it is so easy to follow - the hunger struggle really goes away after the first day.

    Stay strong all!

    ReplyDelete
  90. This is for anyone who HATES the bitterness of grapefruit juice but doesn't want to add any sugar.

It sounds weird, but to make grapefruit juice drinkable, all you need to do is add a bit of salt to it (not TOO much though). The salt takes away the bite and leaves a nice fruity taste.

++ If you do it right it wont taste salty either.

+++ This is exactly why they give you salt and lemon when you take a shot of tequila.

++++ A great way to eat a grapefruit is to cut it into eight segments and then bite the fruit out. This makes it easier not to bite into the nasty bitter white stuff.

  104. I have started this today I currently weigh 9st 13lb and hope to lose a stone by next friday as I have my friends wedding! Wish me luck as this sounds too good to be true!

  105. i done this diet couple months ago, lasted 4 days and had to eat some proper food before i collapsed, it is important you drink plenty fluids and eat exactly what it says otherwise you can make yourself ill, managed to lose 7lbs in that short time however it is hard to keep off and the weight crept back on within a week of eating normally again.

you can eat as much chicken and steak as you want- within reason obviously- on the days stated and you may want to stretch out the fruit you eat for lunch so you are not as hungry between your meals.

  106. Hello everyone,

I started this diet today and to be honest I'm really surprised at how easy it is (but that may just be because I'm muslim and I've fasted before)XP Got day 1 over with and did an hour and ten minutes of exercise today which I'm really happy about!! I find that exercise not only makes you feel better but also fills the time between lunch and dinner:)I wish anyone else doing it too lots of luck and just power through- it will (hopefully) all be worth it at the end:)

  108. Hi everyone!
Just thought i'd log into this blog and keep things updated ...
i started this diet today and am half way through day 1. I weighed myself before i started this and my weight is 13st 3lb. I am desperate to lose some weight and have tried allsorts of different diets, even fasting throughout ramadhan didnt help infact i put on weight! I was so inspired by everyones updates and advice and wish everyone the same success that i am looking to achieve.
I do have one question which is probably common sense but what is the portion size allowed for the meat and chicken?
    Good luck to everyone!
    will keep you posted

  109. Hi all.

I finished this diet yesterday. I'm 23, male and 6ft 2in. I went from 14st 11.5lbs to 14st 3lbs. So I lost 8 and a half pounds. As well as 1 inch off my waist. So I'm pretty pleased with the results of this.

The most important thing to do now is to NOT go back to eating 'normally' like lots of people seem to do. They actually seem surprised that the weight 'creeps back on'!! It's about making small changes to your eating habits. For example, I used to have a sandwich, a packet of crisps and a kit kat for lunch most days. But now I am going to have either fruit or grilled chicken and salad. I know I like it now!

I will do this diet again but I will make small amendments. I can't have the salad with no dressing. I find it boring and tasteless. So I will have to use some sort of light french dressing. I also can't eat boiled eggs on their own. It almost made me sick! lol! I'll also have to give the meat a bit of flavor with a spice or marinade. I think just making small amendments is fine. It supposedly a chemical diet but with the tiny amount of calories your taking in each day you'll definitely lose weight. A small teaspoon of dressing isn't going to change much.

Good luck to everyone else doing this. And thanks to James for posting it in the first place! Look how many people his post had affected!

  111. Hi all, my friend and myself are starting this diet on Monday, why then you may ask? well I personally have got to much food to eat this weekend, have got previous planned nights out.
So will be determined to start next week.
My friend has tried this diet before and found it successful, she has just had her 3rd baby and has unfortunately put back on some of her baby weight, I myself have had 3 children but cant manage to keep weight off my tummy or bottom, so having read alot of these reviews I was very much encouraged to give it a go. 118. I lost 8 and a half pounds first time around on this diet. That was two weeks ago. Since then I have put on 1 quarter of a pound. So nothing basically. I'm currently 2 days into my second round of this diet. I finish on Friday so will feed back some results then. Be interesting to see what happens second time round. The only changes I'm making are adding flavor this time. I can't bare the thought of the blandness of some of the meals. So the salad will have some light dressing, and the meat will have some light seasoning.

  119. Iv started this diet today!!! Iv tried many diets and im hoping this one works for me. Iv spent a week knowing that im going to start this diet today which has made me excited and ready to try it. 124. So, second week on the diet. I lost 8½ lb's the first time I did this, put nothing on, and have lost another 5½ this time round. Bringing my total loss to 1 stone. So I'm really happy. Have also lost 2 inches off my waist. This time round though I added flavor to the meat and salad. And I only had 2 eggs. And they were scrambled. Top diet!!

  126. I am James' little sister and having seen the amazing effect it had on my brother I am curious enough to do the diet myself.

My boyfriend and I are giving it a go this week and we will report back at the end. We're just a bit too chubby so we're not expecting huge weight loss, just a few pounds to kick start us into a healthier eating pattern.

Well done everyone for doing so well :)

Does it really work? Im 14 stone and would love to lose a stone and a half in the next four weeks...just need inspiration please!! x

  129. I did this diet about two months ago, only did five days but I lost 10lbs. I'm starting again tomorrow, have ordered all my grapefruits and bottled water to make sure I drink plenty of fluids! The hardest thing I found was the headaches from caffeine withdrawal but I found this was easily solved with black tea (I can only drink coffee black with a mountain of sugar!).
I also found I cannot stomach grapefruit juice so I'll be replacing day 6 breakfast with an actual grapefruit rather than juice!

  130. Hi Dara

I am on it at the moment - I am on day 4 and I have lost 5lbs, which is brilliant. I have tried EVERY DIET AND PILLS on the market, but this one is really effective. I am planning on doing 5 days on 2 off (obviously the weekends are for fun!) and will do start it again on Monday. I know they say do 1 week on and 2 off, but I am impatient!!!!!! Hope you are getting on well. Just remember to always have water with you and drink as much as you can as it really does fill you up. Also now by day 4 I am no where near as hungry as I was. Dee x

  131. im on the second day of this diet, and just wondering if anyone has actally loss a stone in the week?x
and im a vegetarian so im replacing the meat with fish and eggs, also the grapefruit with apple because i dont like grapefruit is this okay just wondering?xx

    ReplyDelete
  132. The first week I did this diet I lost 16lbs, I stuck to the diet 100%, no swapping foods around and no sustitutes. My friend also did it at the same time, she is a vegetarian, so ate no meat, she lost 8lbs. This is a chemical diet, for it to work and for you to lose a stone in one week you have to eat EXACTLY what it says!! If you don't eat the chicken, steak or lamb it wont work as well as your body is reacting to what you have eaten to burn off the fat. If you are a vegetarian, or don't like any of the foods on the chart, or have no will power, then this diet isn't for you! It has to be stuck to 100% to get the best results. I'm 1 day away from finishing my second week on it and have lost 12lbs so far. If you don't follow the diet exactly don't expect to lose a stone! However, you should lose some weight if you cheat and swap foods, after all your calorie intake for a day is being cut by quite a considerable amount. If you read what it says at the top it clearly states what you can and can't have. If it's not there you can't have it on this diet.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Just done this for 5 days and lost 6lb couldnt manage the weekend but will start phase 1 of the south beach diet which i think will be a good follow on.

My advice is bulk up potions with lettuce to fill u up & drink lots of water.

    Good luck xx

    ReplyDelete
  134. I am starting this diet today! I am currently 9st 6lb and would like to get my weight back down to 8 st. I'm going to do some exercise along side the diet, but not too much considering how hungry I will be! I'm used to eating regularly, so this will be very difficult, hopefully drinking lots of water will help to make me feel full.
Good luck to everybody who is on this diet! I will report back with my progress.

  135. thank you a big help and wow thats amazing 16lbs in a week.
is there any diets you recommented for vegetarians?

    ReplyDelete
  136. So, that's that.
    One week done!
    Me 8 stone 10 - 8 stone 5
    Karl 10 stone 8 - 10 stone.
We both stuck to the diet to the letter although Karl had a lot less fruit for lunch than I did.

    My top tips are:
1 - Remember it's only a week of your life.

2 - Hot water with lots of lemon juice makes a nice comforting drink in the evenings.

3 - A George Foreman grill makes cooking the meat and fish quick and easy and is a very healthy way of doing it.

4 - Having a diet buddy REALLY helps.

5 - Plan the first evening meal you're going to have after the diet, it gives you an extra goal.
If you want to snack them distract yourself, go for a walk, go shopping, go on the internet, just waste time til your next meal.

We're probably going to do it again as it was possible and we're happy with the results considering we weren't greatly overweight to begin with.

    Rosie and Karl

  137. I am just about to start this diet for the second time. The first time, about 8 weeks ago I lost 8 lbs and since then have been exercising more so in total I have lost over a stone to date.I am hoping to lose at least 8 lbs or even more this time around.

    ReplyDelete
  138. I've just finished day 1. I had the dry toast with a grilled tomato for breakfast, I drank lots of water and grapefruit juice to try and keep myself full until lunch time. The grapefruit has a bitter after taste but if you drink it quickly it's not so bad!
For lunch I had a chopped up apple, pear and orange and a glass of pure pineapple juice. And then for my dinner I've had the two boiled eggs, spinach, cucumber, chopped peppers and tomatoes. I'm still quite hungry but just looking forward to tomorrow when I can have chicken and steak!

  139. Hi people. Just discovered this diet last night and started day 1 today. Found it a bit tough but overall not as bad as thought! I must admit, having started the diet without reading all comments, I feel I have already blundered by adding salt to my evening salad. Will the addition of salt slow down my weight loss?? I really need to know because I have 2 stone to lose in 6 weeks for a family holiday and fear my relatives will not recognise me for all the weight I've put on post baby. Good luck to all the dieters on here!!

    ReplyDelete
  140. Hey rahdiggy, I really wouldn't worry too much about a single sprinkling of salt. All it's really going to do is dehydrate you a bit. And good luck to you too, madam.

  141. Hi
I am on day 5 and have lost 5.5lbs so far, only have a stone to lose so am quite happy with this.

does anyone have any suggestions of a diet plan to follow for the 2 "off" weeks ... I don't want to gain anything!!

    ReplyDelete
  142. It's the end of day 2 for me. I've just eaten my steak and salad which has filled me up, but I'm really craving a milky cup of tea and some chocolate buscuits! I hope I have the will power to stick it out for the rest of the week, it's getting difficult already!
As for the two "off" weeks, this waitrose plan seems like a good option, http://www.waitrose.com/food/healthandnutrition/14dayplan.aspx
It's 1500 calories a day, so it's not as extreme as this one, but still very healthy.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Thanks Lisa that's really helpful

Stick with it. By the end of the week you won't really feel hungry and feeling skinnier just makes you want to stick to it :) I'm on day 6 now and feel much smaller!

  145. hiyaa guys,im starting this diet tomorrow
    any tips?

    ReplyDelete
  146. A tip that I've been using is to eat meals as late as possible ie. breakfast at 10/11am lunch at 2/3pm and dinner towards 7ish (although I have had 2 of my evening meals so far waaaayyy after 7pm), thats the aim anyway.. Plus I take shots of grapefruit juice in btween meals whenever I'm hungry. Thank god for that grapefriut juice because I'm not much of a water drinker! So far I've finished Day 3 , bring on Day 4!

    ReplyDelete
  147. okay thanks big help!
how are you finding it?are you exercising much?
i was thinking of doing half an hour cardio every morning during the diet

    ReplyDelete
  148. I'm on my last day, I haven't found it very hard at all ... but I was pretty determined at the beginning of the week!! The only cheat I've done is a slice of toast yesterday (day 6) which I found the hardest day by far, but because it was so close to the end I didn't want to give up and that's what got me through I think! Will update with final weight loss tomorrow, fingers crossed.

Tips - get support from your family & friends so they don't try and tempt you

    - it's only a week - you can do ANYTHING for a week

    - drink lots of water

    - hot water with lemon is a nice start to the day and you don't want breakfast too soon

    good luck :)

    ReplyDelete
  149. I had to give up this diet on day 4 as I almost fainted during a meeting today and I started hyperventilating. I don't think I was getting enough sleep and I was doing too much exercise for this kind of diet so it's best for me to stop.
I have lost about 4lbs though so I'm happy with that. I've never dieted before and I'm not "overweight" as such, I just wanted to lose a stone that i've gained over the past year, so I think it was quite a shock to my system!
Good luck to everyone on the diet though, it does work but if you feel ill at all I would recommend that you stop :)

  150. Well done Lisa for your weight loss and sticking it out to day 4. Its a shame you felt unwell but I agree it's best to quit if its affecting your health.I'm also on the dreaded Day 4 and am finding it especially tough to stick this out and may have overdone the fruit bit for lunch in a desperate attempt to get to my eggs and salad for dinner without breaking the diet. The only thing pulling me through is is the fact that I am 7lbs lighter ( sooo happy with this). Keep motivated people, the weight will drop off!!

    ReplyDelete
  151. Finished! Went from 11st 8.5lbs to 10st 8lb. Am over the moon and back to my lightest ... now just have to keep it off!

Good luck everyone, it really does work.

  152. Well done thats a great result. I am going to start it tomorrow as I have already had breakfast. I went for a bridesmaid dress fitting and I have to lose half a stone in 2 weeks - i thought it was going to be impossible but now I've seen everybody's results I will definitely be trying this diet out for a week. I absolutely love food so I think this will be hard but knowing I have to do it will hopefully be enough to motivate me!

    Wish me luck!

  153. Hello everyone, I started diet on Monday I weighed 10st 2lb. Today being Day 4 has been the HARDEST was so close to giving up but didn't. So far i weighed in this morning at 9st 13lb.I know am ment to be a happy but am disappointed because i've been so good and exercising for two hours everyday to find i've lost only 3 pounds..:-( how am gonna lose a stone by sunday??

    ReplyDelete
  154. hi, i started the diet on monday too. i weighed myself this morning and i have lost 9lbs. i weighed 10st 3lbs on monday morning so almost the same weight as you. the only exercise i have done is walking to and from work. what i have been eating is exactly what is says as peoples comments before have said you have to. have you stuck to it? the fruit for lunch i had was 1 banana and 1 apple. where it said salad i had 1 carrot grated mixed with 1 quarter of cucmber chopped up and 4 cherry tomatoes (i don't like lettuce). i also drank lots of water through the day. don't think you will lose a stone by sunday now though.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Im on day 3 and havent weighed myself but feel great - can feel the inches are coming off. Im walking/jogging every chance I get too! Having read some of the comments though I wonder if it has been a mistake to put sweetner in my black coffee and I am also drinking grapefruit juice throughout the day.. whereas some people say only with the fruit should you do this.... shall I cut out the grapefruit juice?? switch to water? Danni x

    ReplyDelete
  156. Hi Danni, good to hear you are feeling great! Im on day 6 and feeling great also. I havent weighed myself yet, I thought I would wait until the whole 7 days are up. I have definitely lost weight though, I can feel it and I'm sure my belly looks less flabby! If I haven't lost a stone and just a couple of pounds I will be happy because I feel so good. I have also found the diet quite easy. You are allowed grapefruit juice to drink through the day, black tea and coffee and lemon juice also. Drinking plenty of water is good for you to flush everything through you, so drink more water and less of the juice if you can. I'm not sure about the sweetener in your coffee, but maybe don't worry too much about it. You feel great and are doing well, so if it helps you get through the day stick with it. I will be back once I have finished the 7 days to let you know my total weight loss. Good luck and keep up the good work!

    ReplyDelete
  157. Hi everyone, those of you who have lost the stone or close to it, are you finding that you look a stone lighter or is the lost weight just on the scales? I have tried this diet many times but only ever reached day 3 and gave up! Determined to succeed in it next week though. Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  158. Hi Sarah, I'm on my final day (7)and have lost about 10lbs so far and yes, there is a difference in my body. One thing i will say is that it doesn't look drastic, just a bit slimmer overall. This may be because I was not a skinny minny and the weight loss wont look as marked as someone who was lighter and lost 10lbs. I started at 14 stone....I would recommend this though as it wasn't the worst 6 days of my life and is doable if I have managed 6 days ( I usually have next to zero willpower when it comes to food)!!

    ReplyDelete
  159. Thanks Katie - so hard to get support from my lot around here so knowing other people are in the same boat keeps me motivated! Well done to you too!! people who dont understand the diet think its too extreme and are very negative. I feel very "clean" eating this way and will definately stick to plain salad from now on, havent missed the dressing at all weirdly. The only thing I notice is reallly missing from this diet is calcium so on day 8 I will treat myself to a big glass of milk! My goal is to lose 20lbs so Im gonna do a week 2 of this as well. Lots of people say they lose the most in the last dew days so got that all to come - wahoo!! Fingers crossed - stay in touch!!

    ReplyDelete
  160. Hey everyone!! Just finished the week and lost about 8-10lbs. Does anyone find that their weight varied wildly throughout the day??? In the morning the scales registered almost 7lbs lighter than they have this evening (sad face). Disappointment has just led me to give into 2 funsize twirls and and eclair despite vowing to continue eating healthily.Grrrrrr!

    ReplyDelete
  161. Rahdiggy im pretty sure that you always weigh less in the morning so if you weigh yourself every morning go with that its the most accurate. Don't let that make you lose faith.

  162. Hi Danni, I know how you feel! I had no support from my friends and people around me. They all kept telling me it was a crazy diet and unhealthy and there was no way I could lose a stone in one week. Well you know what! I lost 10lbs!! I finished the diet yesterday and jumped on the scales and couldn't believe my eyes! I know its not a stone but 10lbs is pretty good going! AND i feel good. I have decided to have 3 days off then i am going to start again for another week. Good point about the calcium, i never thought about that so i have had a glass of milk each morning along with my toast. Cant wait to start this again and keep up the healthy eating! I have also grown to love green tea and it really help with the hunger pangs in the evening before bed, you should try it! I hope you are staying strong, you can do it girl!! Keep in touch and lets motivate each other!

Quick question i find it hard to keep motivated and stick to diets any helpful tips?
    Thank you:)

    ReplyDelete
  167. To 'ilovetoshop'. I have the same problem, I always make it to day 3 in any diet and give up. Try this, I do it and it hepls a little:
    1. Print out photo's of yourself looking slim, or in my case a celeb or friend who has a body that you admire. (not too skinny tho!) Stick it up on your fridge etc... makes you think before you grab the food. Picture yourself with the body that you admire.
    2. Pick a few items of clothes that you can wear when you lose the weight and hang them on view in your bedroom. Picture yourself wearing them and remember that in order to fit in them and feel confident, you must stick to your diet!
    3. I always have a list of events coming up that I want to look good for. I hang this list up where I can see it, e.g. wedding, party, holiday etc..
4.I put sticky labels on biscuti jars etc.. with little messages that say things like 'don't eat it, you can do it.' This gives me a boost.
5.I know it sounds stupid, but sometimes it's your mind that tells you it's too hard and diets are bad. Think in you mind that you love eating this food and you love exercise. In your mind, imagine that you are slim and healthy. Instead of chocolate being a treat, buy a new top or something. A new attitute can help.
I hope this helps. Let me know if it helps.

  168. Hey all :)
Just started this diet properly yesterday as I'd like to lose as close to a stone as possible by next Tuesday. My boyfriend is back from holiday and I'd like to surprise him!

I weigh about 10st 6lbs at the moment and my goal weight is 9st so I'll keep going til I hit that point :)

I've also been taking 2 fat metaboliser tablets a day, and before bed every night I've taken 3 slim nite tablets. Also been doing about 20-30 minutes hula hooping on Wii Fit as that really knackers me out! And walking 45 minutes to work and 45 minutes back, I so hope this works.

    Best of luck to everyone!

Tip for any gamers... I've been playing Xbox 360/PS3 a lot in the evenings to distract myself from those evening snack tempations! It works wonders :D

  169. Did this three weeks ago and lost just under a stone, put two pounds back on in the two weeks off as I had a couple of MAJOR sessions! tut tut!

Have started again this week and have already lost those two pounds plus another four and am on day 3, but its a short week this week as I have a friends leaving do on friday. I have also added a couple of other items to the diet and it seems its still working. Grapefruit sucks big time, so am just having grapefruit juice (tropicana) and it is much nicer, so much so that I will continue to drink it all the time. I had about 8 oven chips with my steak and have had the egg this morning on toast. I am also exercising twice a week as well as a few walks with the family.

Stick with it all that try it, and then just keep portion sizes down and lay off the booze (one I cannot do as much as I would like!)

  170. ...oh, and the first week I did it I had a tomato on the dry toast as dry toast is just evil!!

  171. Great advice Sarah thank you will start using them tomoorow :)

I was wondering when you start losing weight is it very noticable visibly? or is it more just more the scales letting you know that your losing weight, because ive heard most of the weight lost at first is water?

I really want to lose two dress sizes but havent scales to monitor it in stones/pounds would you say roughly 1 stone was a dress size or more 2 dress sizes?
and how long it takes to lose 1 dress size or two?
I hope that makes sense i have waffled abit sorry:)

Anybody no if there is a milk replacement aloud?
i loooove tea and coffee but cant stand it without milk if im honest i have been naughty and had milk today in my drinks:(

Thanks again for the great tips sarah i will tomorrow camouflage my kichem with admirable slim figures lol:) that and glue my bum to the sofa to stop me wondering in the direction of kichen ( im extremely restless in the evening thats when i rade the cupboards for snacks and goodies!:(

Ill let you know how tomorrow goes:)
    Have a great day

  172. Started this 2 days ago, after one day I was the same but after second day I have lost 2 1/4 lbs. The evening is the worst time of the day when the craving for something sweet really kicks in. My girlfriend is also doing it and after two days she is 2 3/4 lbs down. Having a partner in crime is very helpful.

The important thing to remember is that, as someone else posted, it's only a week in your life. I think it's also good in training your self discipline too. Having said that the big bar of caramel is trying to escape from the sweetie cupboard, it's screaming of "Get me out of here!" are getting louder :)

  173. I'm on day 2 now, weighed myself last night and I've lost 1lb already :) gonna try again in the morning and see! I feel so hungry but keeping it at bay with lots of water.

Another 45 minutes walking done and I have another 45 minutes to go on the walk home from work, plus more Wii Fit hula hooping!

I'm having to substitute the steaks with fish as I don't eat any meat, and also I don't eat salad or grapefruit so I've not been having any salad and only drinking grapefruit juice!

Basically my diet today and yesterday was
    1 slice of toast
    Chopped fruit
    Tuna steak

Doesn't seem like enough but I'm not feeling hungry! Also I haven't had boiled eggs for brekkie as I overslept both days and had to make a dash for work lol.

If anyone has any advice or tips that would be greatly appreciated :)

    Sorry to waffle! (mmm... waffles!!)

Any way am staring tomorrow an dam going to learn from my mistakes....I lost 4 pounds on Day 5.... I now weigh in at 10 st 3lb.... Wish me luck..x

  177. Hey everyone, I was so annoyed with myself yesterday as I slept in, didn't have time for breakfast and therefore messed up my day as I depended on convenience food. I was doing so well. But I do agree that the evening time is the worst for cravings. What I do is when I see myself walking to the fridge is I make myself sit down for 5 mins. I ask myself do I really want this and I imagine how guilty I will feel after I do it. Think about it, after going through a few days of the diet, its not worth giving up for a silly biscuit or something. Just keep thinking that your slim body will be forever, but eating the bar will just last five minutes. I also go to bed early and watch a movie as a treat. It helps me stay away from the kitchen. And of course, exercise. It really does cut down on the cravings!

  179. One thing I would say is that you could do with doing some type of gym work (press ups, situps, etc) as otherwise you will be burning off muscle rather than just fat.

  180. finished this diet and lost 1 stone and 2lb found it was quite easy as working alot kept hunger a distraction and water was great at filling me up only did 3hr exersize a week as not enough time to do more but this worked a treat and on a plus found it shrank my stomach so i can only eat as half as much as i did before without feeling very full up and nearly sick the only downside is i had to do the cooking for the whole family while there munching homemade curry im tucking into rabbit food lol

    ReplyDelete
  181. OMG.. am so Jealous Emma well done....So encouraging.xx Thanx for the tip Anonymous said...

  183. Hi guys
I need to lose some weight before my daughter's big day on 19th November. That only gives me 2 weeks! Gonna try this starting tomorrow.

  184. Hi guys! I would like to remain anonymous if that's ok? It's just I am so so so embarrased about my body and weight :'(

I am female, 19 years old, 5ft2, and I weigh 15 stone 12, as you can imagine I feel horrific :( In desperate attempts this evening I found this diet and I have already raided the fridge checking I have all these foods, so I will be starting it tomorrow.

Thanks for all of your comments, they've been so encouraging.

I shall check back tomorrow to update you on the hunger situation:P

VERY VERY excited to have found this! yay!

If I weigh so much, how quickly am I likely to lose a stone in a week? Thank you :)

    How is everyone else doing?

    SJW xo

  185. SJW, I really really really hope it works out for you. Although this is my blog I don't really comment that much on it, but I wanted to say that you're awesome, you can do it, I did it, it's only a week, and I'm really rooting for you. Oh, and drink lots of water as it will help you feel full. :)

My genuinely best wishes and goodwill extended over the internet,

    James

  186. Oh, and I'd guess that you will achieve it; on the data you've provided your basal metabolic rate (the amount of calories you burn by just existing) is 1815.9 calories a day. Without getting too sciencey, this diet is designed to deprive you of a lot of calories without the body realising that it is - you will urinate out excess protein whilst in ketosis (the body's reaction to high protein, low carbs), and so you consume it but lose it.

This diet averages out at a lot less than you than you burn even not getting out of bed. You will lose weight, and I'm really hopeful for you.

    Good luck again!

James (and xo back to you, cutie)

  187. Hey SJW

  188. hi im going to start this diet and comment daily on how it goes.
I am as of today 14 stone 1 at the height of 5ft10
and ideally i want to be 10 stone so if this diet works i am going to do it for 4 weeks so that i can get the confidence to ask a boy im in love with out when i see him at christmas. I have done diets before bt never seem to stick to them so wish me luck xx

  189. This is SJW:)

So realistically the weight should drop off quickly?! I bloody hope so! :D

1st day and I feel fab. I'm not bloated and I'm not hungry; a healthy balance! I also have loads of energy.

I know you guys will get me through this. Knowing that I'm not the only one suffering makes such a difference. Having a close friend who doesn't understand/is a skinny runt just doesn't work! lol!

If I did this diet every week for a month then had a big gap, how much weight could I lose?

Thanks again for posting this! I hope everyone is going good! Keep going, we can do this! :D

  192. Just starting day 3 today and have already lost 3.5 lbs so that's really keeping me motivated! The only thing I am really craving is a cup of tea with a little bit of skimmed milk - other than that I feel fine, just a little bit tired. The evenings are the hardest. Have been going to bed early to avoid thinking about what's in the kitchen cupboards :-)

  198. @gio: whatever vegetables you like (not root vegetables though) and no dressing.

@Anonymous: Sure. I'd have to heavily advise you against doing it for a month though, it says take two weeks off for good health reasons. Remember you are essentially starving yourself unsustainably during this week; if you do that too long without a break the lack of balanced nutrients is likely to mess you up.

How I lost a stone in a week

This is a diet I was handed and told that it was designed to help people crash lose a stone for operations. I tried it and lost 14 lbs, so ...
